Some of the conversations we have in Transition initiatives are challenging. Different hoped-for outcomes, tactics, and communication styles can make meetings and activities hard. But Transition can be a great deal of fun. Co-creating the new world that we know in our hearts is possible is joyful and exciting work. Judith Katz is a community organizer, nonprofit consultant, and longtime practitioner of NVC, a communication methodology developed by Marshall Rosenberg, PhD, in the 1960s. Judith co-founded the Connection Action Project, a Transition-oriented affinity group integrating spirituality, social action and empathic communication, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She moderates the Transition SF East Bay listserve, spearheads her neighborhood's disaster preparedness initiative, and organizes occasional transition-related events.
