Building Resilient Communities for a Post-Carbon World

Do you wish your local neighborhood was a Transition community? Become a leader within the Transition network and help transform our society.

Transition United States offers a two day course called Training for Transition (T4T). "The T4T course is designed to give a detailed introduction to the most important skills necessary to successfully set up, develop, and run a Transition project in your locality."

The T4T offers detailed training about the key issues (peak oil, global warming, biocapacity), as well as the Transition process (the 12 steps and more). Learn fun ways to teach them. The T4T offers insight into the history and the "what worked/didn't work" of other Transition initiatives which are further along on the timeline, it gives training in group dynamics and program design, and it will touch your heart and tap into your passion for this work in ways you cannot even imagine.

It is a group-oriented event, typically done with a group of 20-30 people. We held one here in Los Angeles last December, and we're bringing it back to Southern California for the second time ever.

Participants in the training will:

  • explore the opportunities for personal and social transformation presented by the challenges of peak oil, climate change and economic instability
  • learn the key concepts of the Transition model, including how to set up and foster successful Transition groups., Permaculture principles and community visioning
  • understand how to raise awareness of the need for transition through public talks and events
  • form contacts with other change leaders in your local area
  • establish a plan of action for yourself and your community
