"We're excited to let you know about a Discussion Course that we have created in our Transition Initiative (Sustainable NE Seattle). It's based on the Transition Handbook, and it's proving to be a great way to introduce and engage new people in the Transition model," said Leo Brodie.
The Transition Movement is comprised of vibrant, grassroots community initiatives that seek to build community resilience in the face of such challenges as peak oil, climate change and the economic crisis. Transition Initiatives differentiate themselves from other sustainability and "environmental" groups by seeking to mitigate these converging global crises by engaging their communities in home-grown, citizen-led education, action, and multi-stakeholder planning to increase local self reliance and resilience.
Giving a Transition Talk is one of the single most powerful actions we can undertake. Raising awareness is central to the Transition model and Transition US is committed to making this as easy as possible. The following presentations cover peak oil, climate change and the mechanics of Transition, along with the subtler subject of the inner transition we all need to go through if we're going to re-establish a harmonious relationship with the planet. Please feel free to adopt these presentations to your own style.
