Bringing Art of Hosting into City Planning

Last fall, Transition leaders who had participated in the Art of Participatory Leadership trainings in northern California teamed up with the Sebastopol Village Building Convergence to design a participatory workshop aimed at informing local policymakers on how to build community resilience into Sebastopol’s 10-year General Plan update.

Fifty-five community leaders, entrepreneurs, elders, youth, parents, and more came together for a World Café-style conversation, generating dozens of suggestions on how to ensure city planning proactively builds resilience to the ecological and economic uncertainty of our times.
