    Researchers at Stanford University and turned their attention to the growing Transition movement in the US and are hoping to gain more insight through a survey that you are invited to complete. Here is their description of the research they are conducting.

  • Two Great Unleashings to come

    In case you wanted more news about Unleashing events, both Transition Bloomington in Indiana and Transition Carrboro-Chapel Hill in North Carolina. Great Unleashing events are meant to bring the community together to engage in a rich process of visioning and co-creation, and often marks the beginning of local Transition efforts and the development of a community-wide energy descent action plan. Here's a peek at what these two initatives have planned.

     

  • Transition Whatcom County's Great Unleashing

    After many months of dedicated work, Transition Whatcom County, the 17th Official Transition Initiative in the US, held their Great Unleashing on the sunny weekend of April 10-11th in Bellingham, Washington. The two-day event was enjoyed by hundreds of people from the community and was also attended by members of nearby Transition Initiatives including Vancouver, BC, and Portland, OR.

    Here are some highlights of what's keeping Transition Initiatives busy across the country and around the world...

    In Minnesota, Transition Northfield is planning an Earth Day Celebration which will showcase what's happening in Northfield around sustainability from green architectural design to the City of Northfield's Energy Task Force and Environmental Quality Commission to community gardening, music and arts.

  • Transition in Canada

    An update Transition Trainer Michelle Colussi (also an active member of Transition Victoria in BC):

    There are 15 “official” Transition Towns in Canada with many others working toward that goal. Of those who have been declared official, 7 are in BC, 1 is in New Brunswick and 7 are in Ontario; almost 2/3rds are rural communities; 1/3rd are larger urban places. In a recent survey of training needs, most indicated that they were still at early stages of development.  For others, working group formation and development was a big focus.
